Above is the gear for reconnaissance, attack, and advancing lines below are cruisers and destroyer ships that provide support by overwhelming the enemy from the get-go. Starting off each battle, fleets move in two rows. In Azur Lane, naval battles are fought like traditional battleship shootouts with the addition of tactical aspects and the art of military planning. This lends Azur Lane an immense amount of variety. Having one class won't work with every class- instead, each upgrade or combination brings new benefits. Combinations change the playstyle for each weapon.

Upgrading specific equipment or weapons is possible through multiple methods.

They're tied to the battleship's power through a process called Dual Wielding. Characters in the game can use unique weapons and skills. Additional abilities vary by character such as detecting underwater currents or piloting submarines. Each has different traits like shooting torpedoes, targeting airplanes, and even using firearms. Characters have access to 3 weapons and 2 additional pieces of equipment. There are also many other interesting things happening in these activities that warrant exploration by players.

This is where girls learn new Skills, draw more Oil and Coins. When playing the game, you should explore the new Skills and Coins girls collect as well as the additional Oil they learn through the Academy. Alternatively, you can play the game with other players online via the game's missions. You can play through the story without skipping any parts, and unlock more playable characters. Playing the game in either Single Player or Player versus Player (PvP) mode allows you to complete each mission and challenge assigned to you.
